Managing Communications

August 10, 2016

Many times agendas are set with a parade of routine items that end up gobbling up precious time and crowding out serious questions, troublesome concerns, or authentic debate from employees. As a top priority the healthcare organization’s top managers must learn how to quickly begin a Team building process within the facility to bridge these information gaps, in order to prepare for planned changes.

In response to the heightened focus on implementation of the Affordable Care Act and CARF Accreditation it is critically important for management to apprise line staff of proposed changes early in the process through a standardized process utilizing a variety of communications channels. Seeing managers walking through the facility on a daily basis should be considered job number one, since staff often feel isolated when major changes are “planned”, without some form of direct, reliable communications with their leaders.
